The real estate industry gathered in London on November 23, 2023, for the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Investment Update conference, held at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Co-organized by Property Forum and RICS, the event brought together more than 200 industry leaders, including investors, developers, and service providers, to discuss the latest developments shaping the CEE property market. This annual gathering serves as a key platform for professionals to assess trends, opportunities, and challenges influencing real estate investments in the region.

Insights from Industry Experts

The conference featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, each offering unique perspectives on the CEE real estate market. Among the keynote speakers were:

  • Paul Toyne, Practice Leader for Sustainability at Grimshaw, who focused on the growing importance of sustainability in building design and development, as well as its impact on investment decisions.

  • Kevin Turpin, Regional Director of Capital Markets for CEE at Colliers, who provided a detailed overview of the capital markets in the region, highlighting trends in property financing and investment flows.

  • Richard Wilkinson, Group CFO of CTP, who offered insights into corporate strategies in the logistics and industrial property sectors, discussing how businesses are adjusting to evolving demands for space.

  • Dan Bucsa, Chief CEE Economist at Unicredit Bank AG, who addressed economic forecasts and how macroeconomic factors are shaping real estate prospects across the region.

  • Mirela Calota, Director of Deal Advisory – Real Estate and Infrastructure at KPMG, who discussed the role of advisory services in helping businesses navigate complex real estate investments and projects.

These experts shared their in-depth knowledge on sustainability, economic trends, and market behavior, offering valuable guidance for professionals looking to adapt to a changing environment.

Opportunities for Networking and Collaboration

In addition to the thought-provoking discussions, the CEE Investment Update conference provided ample opportunities for networking. Developers, investors, and service providers engaged in meaningful conversations that allowed them to exchange ideas and explore potential collaborations. The event encouraged attendees to discuss the challenges they are currently facing, from financing difficulties to adapting to shifting market demands. By facilitating these conversations, the conference played a pivotal role in fostering connections that will likely influence future investment strategies in the CEE region.

The Future of Real Estate in CEE

As the global economy faces uncertainties, the real estate sector must remain agile, adjusting to fluctuating conditions and embracing new opportunities. The CEE Investment Update conference underscored the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing to help professionals thrive in an increasingly competitive market. With key discussions centered on sustainability, economic shifts, and market innovation, the event provided attendees with the tools and connections necessary to navigate the challenges ahead.
