Ed O’Neill Lists Iconic Los Angeles Home for $6.7 Million

Background of the Property

Actor Ed O’Neill, renowned for his roles in “Married… with Children” and “Modern Family,” originally purchased his picturesque estate in Sullivan Canyon for $2.6 million in 2004. This home, nestled between Brentwood and Pacific Palisades, boasts a horse-friendly environment. Following his success in “Modern Family,” O’Neill and his wife, Catherine Rusoff, acquired a nearby residence for $3 million, further establishing their roots in this desirable area.

Property Features and Design

Offered for sale at just under $6.7 million, O’Neill’s former residence is situated on nearly one-third of an acre along the historic Old Ranch Road. The hacienda-style design is attributed to celebrated architects Cliff May and Chris Choate, crafted in the early 1950s. This single-story house encompasses around 3,200 square feet, offering four bedrooms and three bathrooms, characterized by airy spaces illuminated by extensive glass walls and skylights.

Interior Highlights

The interior boasts a blend of terracotta and wide-plank wood flooring, plaster walls, and wood-beam ceilings, creating a harmonious aesthetic. Key features include:

  • A spacious sunken living room equipped with a built-in window seat and a cozy fireplace.
  • A family room that showcases a striking raised-hearth flagstone fireplace.
  • A dining area featuring its own fireplace for added warmth.
  • A modern galley kitchen fitted with high-end Viking and Sub-Zero appliances.

Primary Suite and Amenities

The property also includes a distinct wing housing the primary suite, which features another fireplace, sliding glass doors leading to a private patio, a walk-in closet with a safe, and a luxurious bathroom highlighted by a pedestal soaking tub.

Outdoor Space and Additional Features

The lush outdoor area is designed for relaxation and entertainment, featuring:

  • A standalone wine cave for connoisseurs.
  • A swimming pool complemented by a spa and water slide.
  • A tranquil meditation garden adorned with a Buddha statue, accessible via a bamboo-laced pathway.

Adjacent Residence

O’Neill and Rusoff also own another nearby residence, a two-bedroom, two-bath home previously owned by cinematographer Robert Richardson, which they purchased in 2011 for just over $3 million. This 3,165-square-foot property, known as the Experimental Ranch House, was designed by Cliff May and has been refined by Marmol Radziner during Richardson’s ownership.
