Bryan Cranston’s Eco-Friendly Ventura County Beach House Listed for Sale

In 2007, actor Bryan Cranston, well-known for his role in Breaking Bad, purchased a charming bungalow from the 1940s for $2.5 million. Nestled along the Ventura County coastline, this property offers breathtaking ocean views and a private sandy beach—features that drew Cranston and his wife, Robin Dearden, to the residence they affectionately called the “love shack.”

Transforming a Hidden Gem

Over the next six years, Cranston collaborated with Turturro Design Studio and Allen Associates Construction to renovate the home significantly. The result was a stunning modern residence that highlights sustainability, dubbed “Three Palms.” In 2021, the couple sold this luxurious net-zero home to investor Louis Gonda for $5.5 million, exceeding their original expectations by approximately $455,000.

A Re-Listed Masterpiece

Now available again on the market, Three Palms is listed for nearly $8 million. The property is under the expert guidance of Katie Walsh from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties.

Innovative Sustainability

Renowned for his commitment to green living, Cranston shared his vision for the property in a YouTube video in 2012. He emphasized that constructing an eco-friendly home does not require sacrificing luxury. Completed in early 2013, this LEED Platinum residence was the first passive-house-certified home in Ventura County and even received the “Green Home of the Year” award from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Features and Design

The home’s design integrates stucco and titanium siding with advanced energy-efficient systems, allowing the residence to generate as much energy as it consumes. Spread over 2,450 square feet, the property includes:

  • Three bedrooms and four bathrooms.
  • An open layout enhanced by polished concrete floors.
  • Glass walls that open to beachfront patios and expansive ocean views.
  • A mix of custom art and decor available for purchase.

Luxurious Amenities

Among the highlights of Three Palms is a spacious great room that combines a living area, dining space, and a sleek kitchen featuring Poggenpohl cabinetry. The property also boasts:

  • An eat-in island and high-end Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances.
  • An ocean-view primary suite with a walk-in closet and luxurious bathroom amenities including dual vanities, a soaking tub, and a steam shower.
  • A den that can serve as a fourth bedroom.
  • A rare basement for an oceanfront property, which is accessible from the outside.
  • A one-car garage equipped with an automated lift for an additional vehicle.
